Mike,
I have heard of putting the 2 liter GT-6 engine and the 2.5 liter TR-6
engine in Spits, but have never heard of anybody putting the TR3/4 motors in
a Spit. IMHO, I don't think (for all the work you'll have to do) there's
anything to be gained from that conversion. Also, any engine swap is going
to put you in a modified class where you'll probably not be competitive.

Subject: Spit engine
I have an opportunity to buy a MKIV Spitfire for a really cheap price and I
think the thing would make a good autocross car. The engine is a 1500 but
is
in pieces and I don't really want a 1500 anyway. Does anyone have a decent
Spitfire engine for sale? Also, has anyone ever tried to put a TR3/TR4
engine
and trans in a Spitfire? Would the diff and axles hold up to that sort of
conversion (I already have a decent TR3 motor and TR250 trans.)?
