The Lucas 22804 as used on Jaguar MKII, 3.8S, & 340 is a 'high output'
generator, but it's a whopping 48 amps... and not easy to find. Many of the
Jag generators are 42 amp, which helps some. In my opinion, the trouble with
them is weight: since they are dynamos, they are physically larger and
heavier than the 40 amp units the car came with. A 48/54 amp Lucas alternator
is shorter and weighs a lot less, plus the lower bracket lines up.
