Amici,
In my ongoing effort to invest too much money in my '68 GT6 racer (no,
$16,000 doesn't sound like too much for a race-prepped '65 TR4A IRS), I'm
going to replace the tailpipe section of my exhaust system, and go for the
aluminum radiator.
I think I have factory competition headers, or so I've been told. How can I
tell? They end on either side of the right-hand frame rail, into a "y",
then exits in front of right rear wheel. Butt ugly! I want to replace from
the headers back. What's the merits of rear exit vs.side, twin pipes vs.
y-connector, etc.? You can tell me. Are there any performance gains to be
had here?
The other question is about radiator capacity. How much heat do I need to
reject through the cooling system? Obviously more than I have been, judging
by the 240 water temp. Then again, it was hot at Mid-Ohio.
