I think I know the one you mean, and lip up, if it goes all around, would g=
ap the plate to the bottom leaf, which you do not want.
So lip down will keep plate and leaf in intimate contact.  Lip up would be =
an opportunity to hold water and dirt as well, which should be avoided.
Why the lip?  Hmm, it'd make it stiffer than just a flat plate, can't think=
 of another reason. (facilitate some assy line tool?)
