There might be some corrosion/rust where the clutch m/c meets the firewall.
Tap it from the pedal side to loosen it.

Yes I removed the pin connecting the pedal assembly to the clutch master
cylinder assembly.  That pin is badly worn; are they still available from
Nissan?

Now the next step in the saga of attempting to fix my clutch actuating
problem. I am attempting to remove the clutch master cylinder and I have hit
a roadblock. I have removed the two nuts holding the assembly to the
firewall and disconnected the line that leads down to the slave cylinder;
but I cannot pull the master cylinder off of the firewall. 

How do I get it off the firewall?
