Solex carbs on a 911 are three barrel carbs on two banks of the engine in the
rear of the car. They were mostly replaced by Webers for ease of parts and
possibly emissions. They are not that complicated, but are not that easy to get
to to change jets etc. Many vintage racers use them b/c they feel they give
more power in early 911, but much of that has to do with who is tuning it and
the driver. They are no more finicky than a Weber, but with any type of these
carbs, the main hassle is getting them set up. If you get it right and the
engine stays healthy, you really should not have to adjust them too much
