Standard BP6ES plugs okay?

Sorry, guess my earlier post was too long-winded, so let me try again.

Whilst installing my new GB EI dizzy, I discovered the PO installed BPR5ES
spark plugs, which were black and sooty.

Any reason for me to -NOT- replace these w/ the standard BP6ES spark plugs?

Bonus question: Any thoughts on why the PO installed the hotter plugs?
