Drano works good on steel parts but will eat aluminum or zinc (pot metal). 
The old style "hot tank" at auto machine shops was basicly Drano. An aluminum 
head would go away pretty quickly. Also in disolving lots of hydrogen gas is 
released. Very explosive. Also, do not use it as a radiator flush.
