September 4, 5, 6, & 7, 2003 - Seaside, Oregon
HRM Productions and the Seaside Downtown Development Association (SDDA)
present the Sixth Invitational "September in Seaside Hot Rod Happenin'!"
the weekend of September 4, 5, 6 & 7, 2003 in the historic surfing city
of Seaside, Oregon. Over 500 pre-1963 hot rods, custom cars and cool car
classics are expected to be showing and shining on Broadway to the Beach
during this nationally recognized "Best Beachin' Rod Run in America!"
These show quality vehicles will be on display in historic downtown
Seaside on Broadway from Highway 101 to the famous Lewis & Clark
Turnabout on the Beach.
A repeat event within the event is the Fourth "Steve's Auto Restorations
Seaside Roadster Show!" It takes place in the Seaside Civic and
Convention Center. Over twenty-five of the country's top hot rods,
custom cars and classy classics will be competing for the top awards of
"America's Best Hot Rod," "America's Best Custom," and "America's Best
Classy Classic!" Spectators can expect to see the best of the best in
competition at this world-class event! The hours of the Roadster Show
are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission
is only $1 for the Roadster Show. The Seaside Hot Rod Happenin' is free
to the public.
A highlight of the event is the now famous "Cool Cruze" on Saturday
evening from 6 to 8 p.m. It will be a parade of the classics cruising
Broadway with live interviews on the street of the drivers and narration
of the cool car classics by celebrity announcers.
For the event participants there will be fun activities including a Two
Day Flashback Poker Run starting Thursday & Friday noon, a Hot Rodders
Golf Tournament on Thursday morning, a Early Arrival Hot Rodder's Party
Thursday night and the must attend Friday Night Kickoff Party sponsored
by the SDDA featuring a Taste of Seaside from participating restaurants,
entertainment and fantastic door prizes. It takes place, along with an
advance preview of the Seaside Roadster Show, in the Convention Center
where there will be the debut of many newly constructed rods, customs
and classy classics being built for this event. On Saturday a
challenging Participant Poker Walk throughout downtown with participants
collecting playing cards to win some very special prizes from SDDA
merchants. On Sunday a Treasure Hunt Happenin' takes place throughout
downtown with prizes going to many participants finding their name
posted in participating stores. At 2 p.m. on Sunday, the group gathers
at Quatat Park Stage for ceremonies. The program features the Award
Picks for 80 chosen cool car classics, including "Steve's Super Seven"
presented by Steve's Auto Restorations, Builders of America's Most
Famous Rods & Customs. The festivities end on a biggy finale' with the
claiming of the many fine participant prizes from the merchants of
Seaside.
