hi all,

I jacked up the car and took a look at my exhaust pipes and decided to take it
to someone hehehe. it looks like it is one long piece welded together and I
don't have the stuff to cut it out. I decided to pull my oil pan off and clean
it up and do an oil change. this is the first time since I have owned my early
67 1600 that I have pulled the pan. most of the bolts were only hand tight.
also, of the front four bolts holding the pan on three were studs that had a
nut on them. All of the rest were bolts. is this correct? im thinking of
replacing the oil pump since I have the pan off. it looks like two bolts hold
it in. nothing fell out of the engine or was in the pan so I guess everything
is ok in the block! can I use carb cleaner around the open block to clean all
the grime off? it looks like RTV was used the last time instead of an actual
gasket and the edge on the block were it seals looks pretty clean. I will now
stop rambling. we have had an odd change in the weather here in las vegas. it
has been raining all week!
