Hard chrome is (like it sounds) a hard chrome plating on the shaft to reduce
friction. Moly coating (short for molybdenum disulfide, if I remember
correctly) is a newer process that is also a low-friction coating. I've
never seen any direct comparisons between the two, but I believe both are
good if properly done.
