In regards to all the resistance talk, if you look at the fine print
at the Pertronix site, you will see that there are different coils
for the 4 cylinder and 6-8 cylinder cars. The 4 cylinder coil does
in fact have a higher resistance than that for the V-8s. So be sure
to get the correct one.
I got my Flamethrower coil from www.partsvw.com. The Pertronix swap
is a common one in the Beetle (old), and California Imports
(www.partsvw.com) only carries the correct coil for the 4 cylinder
Beetle.
