All these cars had Triumph running gear from the Herald/Vitesse and Spitfire 
- also had a Triumph Herald chassis - the largest lump was a 2 litre Vitesse 
producing 100+hp - if this was like the car you test drove then it was an 
engine swap.
They never went to the USA although a Canadian couple imported a batch of 
Mk2s and sold them out of Ontario. A few of these found their way to the USA.
The TVRs came in kit form - ugly but very British and not much like a 
Mustang. another possibility is the Trident - lovely looking fastback cars 
built out of TVR moulds when TVR went into liquidation before being rescued. 
30 of these had 289s - a number of other engines were used. The last few had 
360ci engines.
