The Crane 3000 uses more sophisticated circuitry than their 700 model which
is more commonly available and cheaper however after looking at the 3000s
specs it appears to be a better value for performance. The breaker gets a
full 12V.
I would try calling Summit Racing as they're the cheapest performance place
I know of. 1-800-230-3030. They can special order it for you as they don't
stock it but they do deal with Crane.
Car Shoppe at 1-800-603-4359 has a 3000 model listed for $112 but I don't
know how much they will charge for a kit for our cars. Should be the same
though. Tell them it's for a 510 as they use the same distributor as does
the early Honda Civics up to 79.
This is no substitute for recurving the distributor however, but that's
pretty cheap to do also. Make sure you get a new vacuum plate also as they
wear quickly. You need weights, springs and the cam to convert it. If the
bushings are good just rebuild it.
