My 67.5 choke cable has a small ratchet assy inside the dash assembly. It
isn't hard to open up and see what is wrong. I understand that later cars
used a different set up where you turn the knob to lock it. Try taking it apart
and see if it is gunked up up, or whether it needs repair.
