I have an ODD request. I am looking for a gas cap. Actually, I have the
gas cap, I am looking for a lock cylinder to make it "whole" again. Now, I
have to be a pain and get specific. What I need is the lock cylinder out of
a 65 - 67.5 gas cap. With the key (or to fit a 1000 or 5000 series key)
would be perfect. The cap can look like crap, be broken, what have you - I
am interested in the cylinder. Oh yeah, if you have the little lock tab, I
need that too (I need 2 of those) Now, I know that there are folks asking
how do you know if the cap was from that timeframe - well I am guessing.
The one that I am looking for has a disc with a cross shaped metal dohickey
crimped onto it for the mounting ears (when viewed from the bottom) This
disc is held on with 2 screws (typically phillips head screws) If the lock
has a z shaped lock tab and has 4 screws visible from the bottom (2 on the
high part and 2 down low) then it has the cylinder that I cannot use.
