When I first got my '66 1600 going, I was able to find a water pump at Pep
Boys--surprised me that they had one available under $100, but the counter
guy knew Datsuns fortunately. At the time, I had the original two piece 1600
fan blade apparatus, but I didn't like it.
I now use an A-series 4-blade plastic fan which already had a neato aluminum
spacer/adapter that fit the bolt pattern of the pump hub. It also sticks the
fan a few inches out from where it was before, but not too close to the
radiator. I got the fan at the junkyard out of some mid-seventies B210
thing. I like it because it just looks better than that ungainly stock
two-piece thing. Also, it's lighter and seems to be better balanced and that
can't be bad either!
