Advice needed on U-20 thermostat spacer removal.

Hello All,
        I need advice on hoe to remove the thermostat spacer from the 
block of my U-20. This is the part that the stock temp sender screws into.
I want to remove it without breaking it and I also need to remove the stock
(non-working) temp sender.
