Recognize This Part???

Does anyone recognize this part?  I thought it went with the gas pedal
somehow but doesn't seem to fit anywhere.  I hate it when I have parts left
over after rebuilding something!!
This is from a '70 1600  (#28383) which I am restoring.  Any help
identifying it would be appreciated.

This picture shows the part held up on edge by some scotch tape, and a
quarter is siting near it to show the size.
