Mystery bang

During the past few days I have heard a metallic bang coming from the
front of my 70 1600. It usually happens at slow speed while in a curve
or around a corner. It might also be my imagination, but the steering
seems a little sloppy. I would be thankful for any wisdom on what I need
to check. Thanks.
