distributors

I'll try this from a different angle. How much rotational  play is allowable
in the end of the distributor shaft? I mean the piece secured with a pin to
the shaft that fits into the oil pump. I wouldn't think there should be any
as it would cause the timing to bounce around. Have I just answered my own
question?
