Portland Going to Shasta?

Hi All,

Is anyone going to Shasta from Portland, Southwest Washington, or the I-5 
corridor?
I'm thinking I'd like to caravan down on Thursday.  Also, I need to make this 
a cheep trip any ideas on inexpensive lodging, or camping, or camp site 
sharing?
