Hey all-
I was cleaning up my front brake pistons to reinstall into the cylinders
this w/end. What is the train of thought on the design of the pistons?
When installed, thecenter pin slides down the center of the piston. Behind
this appears to be a spring?
The reason I ask is that when reinstalling the pistons into the housings,
the center pin is REALLY tight on the piston. The center pin is clean and
the piston does not appear to have any corrosion in the hole the pin slides
in. I have not pushed them all the way on yet as I was just test fitting
the piston with the new stainless steel sleeves without the seals and was
afraid I would be unable to get them off without being able to use air
pressure. Has anyone dealt with this before? This is the first set of disc
brake calipers I have encountered with the pin in the center of the bore.
To answer Gary's question, I had the SS sleeves put in by George Frechette
1-800-528-5235. I still haven't assembled them yet but the work appears
very professional. I had about a 2 1/2 week turn around and it set me back
$166 with shipping. The seal kit I bought through the local Nissan dealer
for I think $28. I think the part # is on the www.datsun.org page?
Good luck and any advice I can get on my caliper piston is appreciated.

PS - if things go as planned (they NEVER seem to) the motor will be
reinstalled and brake work will be completed by June! :-)
