 Help,

Before removing the engine for the 3rd time thought I'd actually seek some
wison!
My engine has an oil leak at rear crank seal.
I have replaced the seal once with no effect. Then I moved the new oil
seal so that it is flush with the outside of the block,
 which reduced the leak slighlty.

Any suggestion/s would be very welcomed (fixing the oil leak suggestions
that is)

One suggestion so far has been to shorten the wire spring inside the seal
to increase the tension that the seal places on
the shalf - has anyone actually done this before?

Footnote - The block is 3.5 RR and the crank is 4.4 Leyland P76. The P76
oil seal is almost identical to the standard 3.5
except it has a larger diameter. The block and rear mains were line bored
to accept the larger diameter seal. I have
checked to make sure that the enlarged seal recess has the same centre as
the crank - and it does.

 Thanks
