The Birds

Does anybody know what kinda of car was used in Alfred Hitcock's "The
Birds"? At first it kinda looked like an MGA from the rear. But then the
front has a crazy grill and there was room for 4 in the roadster. Anybody
know? I liked the exhuast note on it.
