There has been a most enjoyable series of personal disclosures on the
current thread on "Stereotypes". It has rounded very well for me the
conception of the people who write to this list.Few surprises,as it is quite
difficult to hide your personality if you write frequently and many times
include non LBC comments.

I am not going to add to this Stereotypes thread, but rather comment on an
aspect brought by these personality descriptions. It seems otherwise to
surface now and again in this list and IMMO requires some explanation from
the the psychologists lurking here. Why is it that,at the drop of the hat
people proclaim that there is nothing worse and more backward than British
Engineering ? And at the same time treasure and slave over the creations of
said Engineering ? What strange rationalization allows that there is no
connection between the objects of adoration of this list and said
"Engineering"? Who designed the cars ? Who built them? It would appear as if
these wonderful creations whose mechanical and aesthetic qualities we
appreciate so much were produced by faceless people which do not have any
redeeming feature, nor are a part of an acceptable world

I can enjoy and laugh reading jokes about Lucas stuff, knowing that this
ranting about the Lucas quality is a pure myth, and you laugh easily at
myths, as at others related to the quality of British beer, British
Industry,etc.
