I think you would be happier going to SUs that came on the earlier TR4s & 
TR3A&Bs
The best you should expect from a wrecking yard is a rebuildable carb. I
would check the throttle shaft for latteral movement and get a major rebuild
kit if you went that way.  Both Moss and Roadster Factory offer referbished
carbs.  You can send your own ones in & have them rebushed and referbished to
look and perform like new.  I just had the carbs done on the BGT and they 
looked new.
