I thought Lawrence died in a motorbike accident.  That's how his end was
depicted in the film LAWRENCE OF ARABIA.  While this could have been a
case of Hollywood taking a bit of "artistic" license, I recall seeing
a documentary about Lawrence on PBS a few years ago which implied the
same thing.
