A few years ago I stopped at a Gulf filling station on the way to
the office, filled up my american car, drove about 1/8 - 1/4 mile and
the car sputtered and died. It would not start. As I got out of the car,
I noticed 6 - 8 other cars all stopped going the same direction I was.
I asked them if they had just filled up at the filling station and all
had. I was finally told by the station that the large tanks which hold
gasoline get water in them u
which isn't a problem as long as the truck operators position their
fill hoses properly. The gasoline truck operator which brought the
gasoline to the station obviously didn't fill properly. The station
paid for all of the cars to be towed to a garage and the gasoline
tanks to be drained and the carbs to be flushed. I haven't heard of
this happening since.
