compression on the 1500 engine

        Did anyone know/find out if the changes in the compression ratio
of the 1500 spitfire engine were accomplished by different pistons or
milling the head?  I remember someone asking a similar question not too
long ago.

P.S>  the reason I'm asking - would putting a set of 1976 pistons in a 
1979 engine raise the compression ratio to 9:1
