Well I think I will throw my $ .02 in. I have similar problems also with
getting correct fitting AND good quality parts. A few weekends ago I
needed a new water pump, because the bracket that holds the altenator to
the water pump was broken. Well I called all over town to try and find
one. I called all of the usual places that are specific to imports
and/or British MV. I discovered that NAPA had a decent selection of
parts for my MGB. I have since gotten an altenator for my car from them
also. The quality seemed OK, I have had no problems with the
functionality with either of the parts I have gotten from NAPA. I did
not need to "file" or adjust anything to make them fit. They were
identical to the parts I pulled off. In fact the water pump was a better
replacment than the one I took off. It had metal impellers as opposed to
plastic or what ever the other material was.

Just my $0.02 worth.
