Below, you will find a list of LBCs and a summary of their test results
from Autocar (hope they won't sue, this is an advert for them, I guess). In
the meantime read a little background info (mainly for TR8 people).

I have just got my TR7V8 through the MOT. I had problems due to the new
emissions test. It failed on unburnt hydrocarbons, plus it was running a
bit rich (I have never touched the timing or mixture since I bought the car
2 years ago). In the end the garage let me weaken the mixture there and
then (6 flats!!) to pass the CO. Unfortunately the unburnt HC was still way
too high (2000 ppm) at 600 rpm. This was a big problem, which was only
resolved by testing at 1500rpm (unburnt HC only) where it passed at about
400ppm. The reason for initial failure? A fast road cam. It took quite a
lot of phone calls to check that the test for unburnt HC can be done at
higher revs (if not then the cam would have to have gone!!!! was I worried
for a while).

As an aside, the engine is a 3.5 Rover V8 with a 214 cam (fast road), P5
heads (gas flowed with larger SD1 valves), 10.5:1 pistons, twin SUs,
K+N filters, tubular exhaust manifolds and standard TR8 exhaust system.

Now that the car was on the road I decided to do an approximate test of the
performance and targetted on a subset of the tests that Autocar and Motor
carry out (details below).

I then bought a new Autocar magazine and noticed it's PAST MASTERS section,
a large slice of which is seen below. I hope it is of interest and note
that the omissions (Spitfire, Midget etc.) are not mine!
