I think you are correct about the reason for the extra nut. A run an Alpine which is prone to low oil pressure. The fix for it is to modify the relief valve by compressing the spring. The common fix is more elaborate than just putting a spacer nut in. The method uses a bolt and a washer to allow for variable added compression of the relief spring. This gives you the option to modify your oil pressure to meet your current mood. Brian |
