Before you get dollars signs in your eyes and try to melt them down, they are
not solid platinum. They are a ceramic material which has been impregnated
with some kind of platinum coumpound. I think that's how it works. In my
experience, they are a fraud on the American people, and polute worse than
an uncontrolled engine, but not with the polutants which are regulated.
They probably are a major cause of acid rain.
