Actually, djaust31@yahoo.com probably needs both, depending on materials.  My
1925 Rover has quite a bit of aluminium, and wherever bolts screw into that,
the threads are Whitworth (a coarse pitch).  Elsewhere the threads are indeed
British Standard Fine.  Some sizes of Whitworth bolts have the same pitch as
UNC (though a different thread profile) and at a pinch, at least where the
bolts are not structural, you can cheat.  I needed studs screwing into the
aluminium sump (oil pan) that were Whitworth one end and BSF the other, but
had to settle for UNC/UNF and of course use UNF nuts at that end.

You probably really want British Standard Fine fasteners but what ever most
