In my experience, there is no way that a proper drain plug without the 
threads damaged and with the proper crush washer won't work. Be very careful 
with things like self threading anything -- they can really harm the 
threads, especially those oversized ones. What I have seen normally is a 
person is unclear about the crush washer concept, leaves one on the plug 
cause it kind of looks like it belongs there, it leaks and he puts another 
one on, or jury rigs some kind of gasket, or uses a normal washer or 
something like that.  A lot of folks don't know that you should change the 
crush washer when you change the oil -- I learned that on my first 
motorcycle (after I made the mistakes above on a car). Kim
