Scott,
I have had the same problem with my pump that I bought from Terry only a few
months ago. This past weekend when I was adding air to the tank (since the car
had been sitting and had no pressure due to a leak) I noticed a hissing coming
from the intake side of the Air Pump. I had only put about 90 psi. in the tank
so there was no problem with too much pressure.
The pump has only been on the car for about 2 months and only been run for a
maximum of 10 minutes total. I have yet to take it apart but I was hesitant
because it is so new.
I am attempting to bypass the problem by installing a cutoff valve inline
between the air pump and the solenoids/tank, although I am uncertain if I should
do anything (like calling Terry). It was expensive ($275) and I think that it
should work better than that.

                                                Jamie

Has anybody else been having trouble with their electric air pump leaking? I
bought one from Terry a couple of years ago. Earlier this year, it started
leaking air out of the input opening. I took the head off and found lots of
corrosion inside. I cleaned up the sealing surfaces of the valves which
helped for a while. The next time it started to leak, I called Terry. He said
he never had one of the pumps he sells leak. He suggested I sent it back to
him. He did some work on it after which it was OK for a couple more months
and has now started to leak again.

Anybody have any ideas how to solve the problem? Do I just have a bad pump
and need to get a new one? Is there some way to filter moisture out of the
air before it enters the pump? I don't live in a damp climate or drive my
Bricklin in wet weather, but it looks to me like the problem is moist air
condensing causing corrosion and leaving minerals behind.
