Greg is right, the spring is a default,in case of loss of vacuum it will
pull the lights open. Another trick if you want to eliminate the Bricklin
wink is to remove the spring. That way if the vacuum goes away as the car
sits the lights will not pop up. After removing the spring if you should
lose vacuum you can manually lift them until they lock in the open position
and they function normally. Hope this helps.
