George,

That sounds like the same compressor I have. The bumper brace isn't wide
enough to mount all three feet of the compressor. You need to mount a steel
plate to the brace and bolt the compressor to that.

The compressor pulls a lot of power so it needs its own circuit and fuse. You
can run The positive lead up to the battery cable or to the starter relay as
your instructions say. The fender apron is the portion of the fender inside
the engine compartment. The relay has wires that run to the battery and to the
starter.

There is no need to run a long wire for ground. Just attach the ground wire to
the bumper brace near the compressor.

Use the aluminum plate to mount the air controls.
