For those of you interested:

Heat transfer in a radiator is directly proportionaly to radiator area,
proportional to the (0.8) root of the airstream velocity and proportional to
the (0.8) root of the radiator fluid velocity. Hence the most effective
approach to improving cooling is to simply increase radiator area.
Increasing airstream velocity through the radiator is also useful but
increasing radiator fluid velocity via an improved water pump would be
equally effective. Of course a combination of any of the above would be
even better. If anyone is interested in more detail on the mathematics I
would be happy to oblige. You can e-mail me at somervil@vafb.aero.org
