Yep,=20

The switch has no wires to it. I looked in the front and there appears =
to
be a place where someone had installed fog lights. They are now gone.

=20

I got down on my hands and knees and looked under the steering column =
and
the dash panels are still in place. Off to the right side of the cover =
is a
white handle that controls the front air vent. Next to that handle is a
=93body color=94 bracket that has a small square hole in it. Whatever =
was
mounted there is now gone. My guess is that it was the turn screw that
controlled the trip meter reset. Oh well, that now makes three items to
correct. Temp gage, gas gage and trip reset=85.. fun, fun, fun=85=20

Better than working in the garden.

=20

The chrome knob appears to be an addition from a p/o as there is not =
usually
a hole in that location. Do you think that the car might have had fog
lights in a previous life? Other than that, I'm afraid that you will
probably have to try to trace the wiring.

=20

The trip meter reset is usually under the dash, to the right, near the
steering column. In the highly unlikely event that the car still has =
the
under dash panels in place, it usually sticks down through that. =20

Subject: RE: [Bmcu] Another Question

=20

All,

Ya=92ll did so well on the third windshield wiper question I thought =
another
test question on my MGB would be good. Well, maybe two questions. =20

=20

First, I attached a photo of my dash (Don=92t ya just love electrical =
tape=97I
have to live with it until I buy a new fancy steering wheel=97anyone =
have
one?) Just right of the temp gage there is a large black =93plug?=94 a =
chrome
knob and a toggle switch. I know the chrome knob (out of a 51 =
Chevrolet) is
aftermarket but my question is: The chrome knob is a push-pull switch =
that
does not seem to operate anything that I can tell. I do not see it in =
any
catalog picture; does anyone know what it is for?

=20

Second, On the speedo there are two mileage gages. The top one is a =
four
digit trip meter? I expect that it can be reset? Where would be the =
device
be to reset it back to zero. My gas gage is typically British. When =
the
tank if full it registers =BC tank. It works but until I get a good =
reading
on how low it will go I am figuring amount of gas in tank by miles =
driven
and the mileage I get. That seems right now to be pretty good but I do =
not
have an accurate mileage figured out just yet,.
