I agree with Mr. Davis. I recall a certain someone with plenty of Solo 2
experience, at a recent high-profile event, crashing a Honda S2000 into another
S2000 due to becoming disoriented after going off course. The course workers
had no time to react to this unpredictable situation. If we allow karts to mix
with cars (BTW, they MUST be escorted while traversing the pits / grid) how can
we claim to hold safety as our number-1 rule. This is just too dangerous a game
we play (and this IS a game) to have little kids or adults in karts mixed with
the cars. Karts go so fast, and a car can cross their path quickly, no one can
red-flag them in time. Obviously, I wasn't there to witness the conditions, and
with all due respect to Mr. Elder, I feel this is definitely unwise.

Appendix G, II.E:
All karts will be run as a group or grouped with formula cars,
and not intermixed on course with full-bodied cars. However,
at the discretion of the Solo Safety Steward, the Event
Chairman, and the Chief Stewards, karts may be allowed on
course with full-bodied cars if the course design allows for
safe separation, such as the start and finish areas being
remote from each other.

I think this was new for 2005. Someone at SCCA has become comfortable with
the concept. I still don't like it. A stuck throttle, or any number of
situations can put a Kart driver at risk, even with "safe separation." I would
suggest that SFR not run full bodied cars and Karts at the same time.
