There are no beanies that are Snell rated, M or otherwise. The beanies are
basically there due to DOT allowing them, and some motorcyclists' beliefs
that not being able to hear through a regular helmet is a bigger hazard to
them than not being protected. I think that they're ridiculous, but maybe
they serve the purpose of keeping a few riders out of the "long term care
paid for by taxes" ward.

Umm, could we maybe think along the "hate the sin, tolerate the sinner"
here? Perhaps you could make it an anti-loud-exhaust thread? And it ain't
just Harley riders, though the offenders in that group are often quite loud
and noticeable. I ride a cycle with stock exhaust, and hate loud pipes.
Mostly for the bad rap that they give all bikers, causing knee jerk
reactions that cause non-bikers to write anti-motorcycle-rider threads.
Loud pipes risk all motorcyclists' rights to being treated equally and
fairly. Why do some have loud pipes? _IMO_ the obvious reasons are
juvenile, anti-social, and or amoral attitudes.

These pipes are mostly not legal. Ask your local officers why they don't
pull over bikers for loud pipes more often, as I sure wish that they would!
