data acquisition systems

hi all,

what are people recommendations for practical data acquisition systems 
for autocross?  its one thing im considering for next season.

ive not done it until now because i think fooling with it is distracting 
while you are running, and ive been clocked by two different systems and 
they told me pretty much what i felt i already knew about my runs.

however, it could be valuable for tuning.

comments, suggestions?
