I've always dreamed of racing at Laguna Seca and now
is my chance, at the Sea Otter Classic Circuit Race,
which is a bike race held on the track itself.
It was only after entering that I was told by a
friend, also a bike racer, that he can't wait to watch
because he knows he's going to laugh. I'm wondering if
there's more to this race than just going up and down
hills and around some turns.
The Women's 3/4 race is Saturday, April 17th. If
anyone wants to watch and hopefully not laugh, I'd
love your support! You can find out more info at
www.seaotterclassic.com.
Who am I and why am I telling you this: I decided to
take a break from autocross after 17 years to enjoy
the wonders of Western Marin on a bicycle. Then I
thought I'd start bike racing to take the place of
autocross, to meld my new passion with my competitive
personality into one sport. A perfect combination, I
thought. Now I see that it's taking me back and even
deeper into the Central Valley, the very place I as
trying to escape.
Well, not always. Here's a photo of Donna Menard, an
age-group national champ, and me at the Pinole Team
Time Trial, where, without the aid of aerobars, we
managed an 8th place. I was stoked. I'm just including
this to show off what I look like as a "bike racer".
It's still hard for me to believe I'm doing this!

Hope to see you all again someday!
