Let me try this again. (My browser just ate the last one
and I don't think this one is going to show up twice like it did the last time.)

Shauna Marinus won the ASP open Solo2 class in 1998 shortly after the big
testosterone boys whined themselves and their Corvettes out of the class
hopelessly dominated by those unfair 126hp Lotus Elans.

This year she finished 10th in points in the World Speed GT Challenge (I think
I got that name right) which routinely had fields of 40 and 50 cars driven with
the most punt you off the road aggression I have ever seen tolerated in 40+
years of watching road racing on television. Anyone who can look at Shauna's
accomplishments and still contend that women cannot compete with men in
motorsports aren't thinking and shooting straight. And history tells us some of
them
won't until death threats have been issued and some woman has clawed her way to
the the championship of whatever series they think is premier.

As for the facts in the article, well ho hum They are easy to collect relevant
to any of the myriad of things for which people are discriminated against. Such
facts are useful, but they are most useful in effecting change in what is and
is not politically correct and legal. That happened quite some time ago.

Little girls are shoved inside conformance boxes. So are little boys. So is
each and everyone of us everyday. The task for all of us is to get/keep out of
the box in ways tactful and diplomatic enough to avoid provoking anyone around
us to violence. Note that getting really far out of the box with such extreme
skill that millions of people come to admire and love you is ill-advised unless
you value doing it more than life itself. See martyr.

The arguments and conclusions in the referenced article were, well, James has
done a good feminist job of trashing them, so I'll just let that rest.

In the meantime, Go Shauna. Thousands will follow.

If you ain't there yet Katie, then hear this. We're on your side. Back the hell
off.

Next week we'll discuss why blacks aren't talented enough to play major league
baseball and why women can't be leaders of the governments of nations. Oh wait,
that was long ago when I was a little boy in a go to Vietnam box.
Never mind.
