Awhile back I exchanged emails with Rudy Consolacion of Kumho. A couple
of excerpts:

"The successor to the V700 Victoracer will be called Ecsta V700 which
will tie in to our high performance street line name. The Ecsta V700
will be offered in 18 sizes with some that are duplicates of the
Victoracer line and also many new sizes."

"The plan is to keep both lines in the offering. The new tire will have
a directional-only tread pattern with an improved mold shape for better
handling. Target release date is January 2001."

And,

"The new tire will be positioned at the same level as the Victoracer. It
is designed to be lighter by a few percentage points. Compound
characteristics will also be similar."

As a side note, a Toyo tire technician I know was telling me Toyo will
be coming out some new sizes for the RA1 - most notably 225/40-17 (or
whatever stock M3s use), 255/40-17 and 275/40-17.
