Event acticities for Sunday were cancelled due to high winds; 35 mph with
gusts up to 50+ mph, which prevented the cones from maintaining their upright
position. Most of the first run group of Heat 3 completed their final runs
before the event was red-flagged for standby, then cancelled due to the
worsening weather conditions. Class competition finishing positions were
determined using the times ending on Saturday's Heat 2 and count as Class
series points.

The Challenge positions were determined using the final Saturday class times,
with the Challenge bonus money being awarded based on those positions.
However, since nobody was able to compete in the Challenge rounds due to the
weather conditions, all competitors will be allowed to use an additional
event for Challenge series points purposes. Also, Mark Chiles did score a
perfect 0.500 reaction time on his first run during the beginning of Sunday's
Heat 3 competition, which qualified him for $100 for the first perfect
reaction time of the event and another $100 for the having the best reaction
time of Heat 3. He was allowed to receive the cash awards, as well as won
his combined ES-HS class using Hoosier tires. Congratulations to all the
class winners.

Despite the uncontrollable weather problem, the Lubbock event featured great
organization and planning by the West Texas Region, an awesome concrete site,
and one of the best-ever Pro Solo course designs. The weather problem was
just one of those freak happenings. Kind of like the freak 4-minute
rainstorm burst during my final two runs on Saturday afternoon :-(

Sometimes doo-doo just happens.
