>>Dave W's "Speed Creep" explanation falls just a hint short
of what some of us might have provided as a definition. . . . .
surprising since he has been around this stuff for a LONG
time too!
IMO, SC refers to the fact that over the past 25 or so years
of Solo II activity, speeds have gradually and slowly increased
from what was often 1st gear stuff is now touching 3rd. Sometimes.

There are certainly exceptions, as Rocky pointed out regarding
the First National Championship Event. . . . . but overall, the
average course speed is higher now than it was in 1975.

Not making ANY kind of judgment here, whether it is good
or bad - just the observation that it has generally and inexorably
"crept" up.

First off, roger, I'm not THE Dave Whitworth that you are thinking of, but
I'll let you figure that out on your own :)

Second, please re-read my original post - and try not to read anything in
between the lines, because there isn't anything there :)

>> a quick summary of the speed creep issue, It is centered around the
possible speeds at the recent Fort Worth Tour, commenting on said speeds by
people who weren't there, and whether the opinion of people who were/were
not there is valid.

The only change I would make to this original comment is substituting the
word "started" for "centered" Even without that change, notice the words
"quick" and "possible". All non committal, non opinionated, etc. On my
screen, there is nothing written in between the lines, or any subliminal
messages playing out my speakers, although I can't speak about what might be
happening at your house :)

Both me and the other Dave Whitworth know that one of the Roger's may have a
slight problem with twisting things around a bit and seeing things that
aren't there. Kind of like Roger knows that I have a habit of responding to
posts like these that I should just let drop.....
