As with everything else in this sport, we have to police ourselves.  Kids
that don't behave can easily be banned from the grid.  If necessary, a
local rule could be implemented requiring any rider under 12 to be in the
car when the car is on grid.

I get your point... and if a) I had the money, and b) my son's school
performance justified it (I know, I know... the "carrot" of a kart might
motivate him to do better), I'd do just that.  Until that happens, maybe
even especially if that happens, I'd like him to have the opportunity to
ride with me to learn.
